During the month of March, there’s a definite hue of blue throughout Methodist, and Methodist Richardson is no exception. The campus’ GI team is focused on Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month — but not just for traditional patients. One of their top priorities is encouraging employees to get their colonoscopies. To help make this potentially lifesaving test more convenient, the GI team is holding a special Saturday opportunity for employees to get their colonoscopies.
The March edition of D Magazine features nine Methodist nurses honored in the magazine’s eighth annual Excellence in Nursing Awards program for dedicating their lives to making North Texas a healthier place. Congratulations to Methodist Dallas: Debbie Derda and Marie Wilson; Methodist Mansfield: Anthony Blevins, Jay Ebon, Aleasha Johns, and Stephanie Prater; Methodist Richardson: Kim Branum, Tarah Grooms, and Harold Magee. We're so proud of each of you!

"At Methodist, our goal is to walk the talk when it comes to food. Our CEO, Stephen Mansfield, encouraged us to begin a movement toward the availability of healthier foods and has resolutely supported it. The goal? Make the healthy choice the easy choice by offering healthier options in the cafeteria and in vending machines and by following the American Heart Association guidelines." — Kathy Ross, wellness director at Methodist. Congrats to Methodist Mansfield’s Recovery Notes Music Therapy Program with Mansfield ISD and Dr. Nancy Georgekutty for being chosen as 2019 Fort Worth Business Press HealthCare Heroes. They were among 19 healthcare professionals in Tarrant County chosen for their excellence in the medical community, quality of service, and demonstration of exceptional commitment to the health and well-being of local residents.
For almost half a century, Methodist Dallas has been lucky enough to enjoy Lead Surgical Tech Alice Madden's million-dollar smile and her marvelous sense of humor. She was often the first face that patients saw as they were wheeled into an operating room. Alice would greet them with a huge hello and would frequently pray and sing with patients to put them at ease. It wasn't uncommon for a patient to wake up from surgery and ask "Where's Alice?" Starting today, we have a new answer: Our longest-serving employee is enjoying her retirement. After 48 years, she deserves it! http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQotB
BIG news here! Methodist Mansfield has just been designated a Level III Trauma Center by the state of Texas — the ONLY one in southeastern Tarrant County. Congratulations, team!
