Congratulations to Methodist Mansfield! It just earned accreditation as a Practice Transition Program from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The distinction means that the hospital demonstrates excellence in transitioning nurses to new practice settings. Methodist Mansfield has already helped support more than 235 nurse residents in the hospital's medical-surgical, critical care, and emergency departments. Our RN residents rock!
Methodist is so proud to announce the opening of our newest hospital, and it's a beauty! Welcome Methodist Midlothian to the Methodist family — now 12 hospitals strong! The facility is stunning, and we are so honored to be the first hospital in Midlothian's history.
You may notice our new billboards as you are driving across North Texas. During these challenging times, Methodist is proud to spread this important message: Mask up. Wash up. Step back.
Michelle Ferrell, a nurse and case manager at Methodist Mansfield, was used to helping cancer patients navigate devastating diagnoses. Then she got breast cancer herself. She had a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. Now she's taking steps to reduce the risk of cancer returning. Through it all, Michelle impressed her doctors with her resilience. Now she inspires women to keep up monthly breast self-exams.

On Oct. 15 a year ago, Mahendra Patel got a new liver (and a new life!) at Methodist Dallas. So on the anniversary of his transplant, the physicians and nurses at The Liver Institute threw him a socially distant birthday party. Happy 1st Birthday, Mr. Patel!
Leaders from across Methodist Dallas have been amazed as our clinical nurses have risen to the challenges 2020 has presented. It’s no surprise that our nurses continue to pursue excellence and strive for greatness. Please join us in congratulating our unit-level Clinical Nurse of the Year winners for their incredible accomplishments this year! They include Victoria Solis, Evelyn De O’Campo, Tete Donyo, Shenee Furlough, Camille Ory, Claire Moody, Mei Cheng, Ruth Rvalcaba, Dezorey Vahed, Jennifer Meeks, Jessica Barnes, Cathy Peterson, Charlene Demipindan, and Steve Herren. And finally, a big congratulations to the 2020 Clinical Nurse of the Year: Dezorey Vahed from neuro critical care!
For the past six months, at least five days a week, Rachel and Mark Kull have come to Methodist Dallas to clap for five minutes during the shift change in support of our staff. In return, employees have waved and given their thumbs-up, ambulance and firetruck crews have whooped their sirens, and one physician made a U-turn one night to express how much the ICU and ED teams appreciated them. We applaud the show of gratitude!
Zarah Rahman is a patient care technician at Methodist Richardson. She's also a compassionate soul who wanted to bring some comfort to patients whose visitors are limited due to the pandemic. So she raised $2,000 to make special care packages containing a soft blanket, pens, pencils, notebook, puzzles, and more. She found the secret to fighting the coronavirus blues: spread joy.
