Keeping healthcare funds - and patients - safer. Tim Delaney came to MITRE in 2016 with a wealth of experience in serving the United States—in the Army, then with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. As the Program Performance & Integrity department manager in the Health FFRDC, he oversees a team of experts in healthcare program fraud, waste, and abuse—a particularly complex challenge.
A new period of shifting global alliances has emerged, emphasizing strategic cooperation and competition across multiple economic, technological, and policy domains. MITRE Prepares for a Second Wave of Cyber Futures Interns There’s a nationwide shortage of cybersecurity professionals—one that starts at the college level. And MITRE is doing something about it. With an emphasis on historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and minority serving institutions (MSIs), we’re recruiting college undergraduates for our 2022 Cyber Futures Internship program after a successful inaugural year. The paid internships expose students to career paths in cybersecurity. Representatives of federal agencies interested in learning how to get involved with the initiative can email cyberfutures@mitre.org for more information. Growing a quantum-capable workforce. A new MITRE class took 28 high schoolers from zero knowledge of quantum to a strong interest in pursuing quantum careers. With estimated industry growth to $1 trillion by 2035, quantum skills will be critical to advances in healthcare, cyber, and more.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) renewed its contract with MITRE to operate the Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD), a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC). The nine-year contract runs through 2030 and reflects an evolving and expanded mission for CAASD. MITRE has provided support to the FAA for more than 60 years and began operating its FFRDC in 1990. CAASD provides the FAA advice and technical expertise to improve the safety, security, and efficiency of the National Airspace System. CAASD also works with international civil aviation authorities to enhance overall aviation safety.
