Jabil Asheville volunteers helped families move one step closer to homeownership as part of Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity's New Heights neighborhood construction. Each swipe of a paintbrush and nail hammered into the roof decking brought hope to the deserving community. "It's exciting to bring people together to give back and serve our community," Oliver Mejia, Jabil project engineer, said. "The opportunity to help build homes for families in need is something truly humbling and a moment I won't soon forget." Jabil Asheville's efforts are just one way our #JabilCares volunteers build a brighter future for their local communities. Learn more about our #Empowerment initiatives:
October 10th marked World Mental Health Day, an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It is especially important this year to make mental health a priority and have these ongoing conversations. The COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to a rise in mental health issues worldwide including stress, anxiety and depression. At Jabil, we prioritize our People and Communities in our sustainability efforts. Helping us better face the stress we all inevitably have in our lives will make us more resilient and capable of maintaining high-performance levels both at work and in our personal lives. Beginning in 2022, Jabil will offer all full-time employees two additional days of paid time off for mental health and wellbeing. We will also offer employees an additional PTO day to participate in community service. We hope this will help build mental health resilience so our employees can live happy and meaningful lives.
Have you heard of or grown up in a "machismo" culture? "Machismo" is an embedded part of #Latin culture that focuses on masculine pride, where powerful strength is key. Machismo doesn't stop Latina's from taking pride in their power. For instance, Evelyn Ferrer, senior director of Latin America Regional Operations, is changing the game by mentoring young Latin women at Jabil to reverse the machismo culture, making it equitable. Why is Evelyn so committed to future generations? "My focus on mentoring is personal," Evelyn said. Jabil employees are proud to support the relief efforts of Hurricane Ida across the Gulf Coast, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Together, we have donated $34,000 to support the American Red Cross and Second Harvest Food Bank, Feeding the Gulf Coast, Chester County Food Bank, Food Bank of the Southern Tier and frontlines workers. “It’s because of Disaster Relief gifts, like Jabil’s, that we have the resources to be prepared to meet immediate emergency needs after a disaster,” Lindy Rummery of the American Red Cross said. Taking collective action and responding to moments of crisis remind us of the incredible things we can accomplish when we come together in times of adversity. #JabilCares #HurricaneRelief Learn more about our community outreach initiatives:
We are proud of the rich heritage that makes Jabil who we are — our diversity. That's why we're incredibly excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to honor the history, culture and achievements of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Hispanic and Latino/Latina employees, like Mario, are enriching our workplace culture of inclusion every day! Mario leads and encourages his teams to "always have an open mind when you work with people who are 'different' from you or who may not seem to have anything in common with you. At the end of the day, they are 'people' just like you." Read more about Mario's experiences moving from Chihuahua, Mexico, to Memphis, Tennessee, and how that has supported his role as a leader at Jabil. #HispanicHeritageMonth #JabilJoules #Diversity #Inclusion
As the school year begins, Jabil wants to ensure students are ready for their first day. To do so, Jabil Atlanta joined forces with a Coca-Cola plant nearby, where over 200 employees participated in their school supplies donation drive to benefit Atlanta Cleveland Elementary School. Along with these efforts, Jabil St. Petersburg raised $4,000 to purchase supplies for the Pinellas Education Foundation’s Stuff the Bus campaign that supports schools across Pinellas County. “We want to thank the entire team at Jabil for their continued support of the work of the Pinellas Education Foundation. Their collections of school supplies, employee contributions and the Jabil volunteers who show up each year to help us Stuff the Bus make a real difference in the lives of children in our community whose pathway to quality education is made smoother through their efforts,” Rich Engwall, Director of St. Pete’s Promise at Pinellas Education Foundation, said. These back-to-school donations are essential for students to learn and grow. We are thankful to all who participated at these sites and their
