As we reach the end of Pride Month, we are reminded that the celebration of support and love for the LGBTQ+ community doesn’t just happen once a month. Let’s energize each other to support and create change – we’re in this together! As we move into the next month, here are three ideas for elevating your allyship/community pride on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community all year round: Stay Informed: Listen and ask questions respectfully. Educate yourself on LGBTQ+ history, terminology, inclusive language, and issues the community still faces today. Speak Up: Language matters. Don't tolerate hate speech or anti-LGBTQ+ comments. Addressing prejudice in the moment creates inclusive and safe spaces for everyone. Volunteer: Check out http://volunteermatch.org or http://catchafire.org, where you can locate volunteer opportunities to support local and national organizations supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
Addison Group honors Juneteenth. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States in 1865 - two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Considered the longest-running Black American holiday, Potus officially made Juneteenth a federal holiday in 2021.
