For #AAPI Heritage Month, here are five approaches to learning more about the AAPI community, so you can stay informed about core issues that impact this community and continue to strengthen your role as an ally: 1) Read: Learn about the AAPI community and gain insight into their experiences and perspectives through reading. Some recommended books include "The Sympathizer" by Viet Thanh Nguyen and "Interior Chinatown" by Charles Yu. 2) Attend: Cultural events such as festivals, food fairs, and art exhibitions can give you a deeper understanding of AAPI traditions and customs. You can also connect with community members and learn from them directly. 3) Watch: Many documentaries and movies explore the AAPI experience. Some recommended titles include "Who Killed Vincent Chin?", "The Chinese Exclusion Act," and "Minari." These films can provide a powerful visual representation of the struggles and triumphs of the AAPI community.
