PTOs. flexible work from home schedule. A few smart and talented people.

Cons

No opportunity for growth. Layoffs announced every 6 months. Low morale. Low salary. Clueless management with no accountability, Shift in company direction and strategy every other month. Nepotism. No recognition or promotions for people who deserve it. Too much politics in the office. People only promote their friends.

Pros

PTC has the makings of being a great company as it once was. Some of the people who work at PTC are truly exceptional professionals and great people who care about each other. PTC does invest in technology, encourages charitable endeavors and occasionally shows signs of being in touch with the modern workplace.

Cons

There are so many cons related to working for PTC right now.... PTC is a company without an identity due to the constant meddling of the CEO who has year after year bought companies in an attempt to gain new avenues of business, none of which have worked out to his expectations. Time and again we have heard the excuses. The product which has kept the roof on the building, Creo/ProE is constantly being undermined because it existed long before he came and remains today the most profitable and well respected product PTC offers which I believe bothers him greatly. Now our CEO has decided we are going to throw all our goodwill out the window in pursuit of an IOT dream, beat IBM, Cisco, HP and everyone else to the punch by paying far too much for companies which operate in Niche IOT spaces. The reality is the young talent working at these companies snapped up by PTC are bailing rapidly. Talent working in the core Creo and Windchill products work with a packed box in the corner waiting for the hammer to fall based on all the rumors floating around. If you do come work for PTC, hope you have a great boss who stays around long enough to nurture you and protect you from all the negativity which surrounds you. Be clear, PTC as a company cares little about it's employees and has little loyalty to long standing dedicated employees who have put their lives and families on the line year after year. Put yourself first, learn and grow your career. Do not expect any advancement

Pros

At a peer level, I work with smart and talented people that are passionate about what they do and that are some of the nicest people that I have ever met.

Cons

Upper management seems to be more concerned with looking cool and being perceived as a trend setter rather than actually managing the company. PTC's outlook seems to be to buy as many companies as they can that do one niche thing and then to never fully integrate those companies into the product. Since my time here they have purchased at least 6 companies for their IOT space and have no plan for integrating the products. With each new company comes another round of layoffs, which decimates the work force and kills morale to the point that people refer to PTC as "Pretty Terrible Company". The company also seems to be segregated with all groups working towards their own goals. This gets very frustrating because you cannot get work done without the approval of multiple people from multiple groups. Everyone is so concerned about keeping their jobs that they would rather make you jump through 30 hoops than to just help you solve a problem. This brings me the next problem, there are so many smart people working at the company but they are forced into silos and do not work together. This results in multiple groups all working on the same thing without sharing knowledge or unifying on a solution. In the end you end up with half a dozen different ways of doing the same thing that all get adopted by one group or the next. This causes good people to leave and the entire place feels like a sinking ships with people bailing out of it left and right. In the current trajectory I do not see the company lasting more than 3-4 years.
