Pros

Great work-life balance beach-side office (tough commute unless your'e on the Westside)

Cons

Out of control office politics Nepotism is blatant and rampant Senior staff receive high salaries (despite their having no research backgrounds and producing nothing) while junior staff (who do the work) are poorly paid. Do yourself a favor and ignore the obvious shill reviews seeded by management and listen to the candid, real, reviews. This place is terrible.

Pros

good external brand, big events that look good to external audience

Cons

top-down structure, nepotism is rampant, not so great salaries, toxic personalities that are allowed to thrive, no investment in front line staff, support staff or younger employees, very little accountability from senior management or HR, they just hired a full time HR person last year, in my 4 years at MI I've seen over 30+ staff turn over.

Pros

None, maybe it will look good on your resume when you are just starting your career. Other than that, stay far away from this organization or so-called think tank.

Cons

Culture of fear, oppressive and creates hostile work environments. It's a shame that the organization ended up this way. It could be a really great place to work if the structure wasn't such a disaster. There's no trust among employees and are too afraid to speak up. People feel like they are disposable all the time. At the end of the day, it's all about Global Conference and all the other conferences (or revenue-generating conferences). It's ironic that all these conferences discuss "change" and "improvement", yet none exists in this institute.
