Pros

Some really nice and smart and engaged people

Cons

Medidata Solutions is a company that purports to offer a suite of software offerings to help pharmaceutical and clinical treatment companies conduct clinical trials. It handles various analytics, database, and paperwork processing requirements for running clinical trials. The software barely functions — I'm skeptical of any medication about which data has been collected by Medidata software. Releasing is impossible, making new features is difficult, new initiatives are given big announcements and then disappear. There is a tragic lack of impostor syndrome suffered by management and engineering people who I would not trust to remember their own names without checking federally recognized identification. There is a mendacious and toxic culture of talking a big game about diversity and inclusion while simultaneously shutting down diversity pushes, firing women in leadership, and looking every other way than at the rampant sexual harassment. C-level executives are known to yawn through town hall questions about how to increase gender parity in leadership roles, or simply browse their phone. The CTO likened his experience of leaving his high-paying executive role at his previous organization to join a high-paying executive role at this organization to a woman suffering career-debilitating exploitation and ostracization. He said this. Out loud, to the entire technical team. The founders used to be good at internal propaganda, but they are barely trying since the company was acquired by a large French multinational company, whose designs on Medidata technology could not be clearer: they plan to clean house, jettison the garbage tech, and replace it with competently developed software by underpaid engineers based in India, all while retaining the industry recognized brand of Medidata. There was a town hall where the CEO giggled like a school boy talking about his recent trip to Paris before announcing benefit rollbacks. A lot of the folks here are at their first job, or their first job in tech, and are incapable or unwilling to recognize the dysfunction. It should be so much easier to build and release software without having to worry about a sniveling product manager taking credit for the work or unfixable bugs making it into production. Unaddressed tech debt from 2002 still guides costly build decisions. Customer-facing UI looks like a Lycos under construction banner and the effort to make it better is being managed by people who don't know how to fix it. Trying to get anything is exhausting and not worth it. This place sucks, steer clear.

Medidata Solutions Response

Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a positive employee experience. Diversity and Belonging are very important at Medidata, and we take it seriously when hiring new talent and retaining our current talent. At the beginning of 2020 our CTO set a goal of increasing diversity hiring significantly, and we are well on our way to achieving that goal. In addition, we offer many resources for employees and people leaders geared towards diversity education and actions, one being our unconscious bias training. Employees are also encouraged to join our Business Resource Groups (BRGs) which further put emphasis on the importance of our diverse communities within Medidata. In respect to our software, we are constantly amending our processes to decrease the time it takes for our software to reach patients, which is ultimately our end goal. We will continue to work on bridging this gap and improving the system. Regarding our acquisition by Dassault Systemes, we strive to communicate to employees on a regular basis. We will continue to provide resources for teams to manage through change in addition to working on our processes and approach to meet our high standards, innovate, and most importantly, power smarter treatments and healthier people.

Pros

Medidata is a great company! There are so many good things about Medidata, I would like to highlight some of them: 1. Open culture Medidata has a open culture to let people and teams work together and help each other. Especially, there is no cubic and offices for managers, so it is very easy to chat with them and exchange ideas with them. And, there is an very designed internal site that allows everybody ask questions and express ideas. 2. Enormous opportunities Medidata has a lot of interesting projects to let people have a place to use their talent and apply their knowledge. All projects are managed by following Agile methodology. Engineers have autonomy to choose the right technologies and tools. For people who like to continue grow their knowledge and skills, there are internal training courses and external training opportunities. 3. Flexible work hours Medidata has flexible work hours to allow people manage their own schedule based on their work style. Also, there is a work from home opportunity to accommodate people who have long commute by not coming to the office every day. 4. Life and work balance Medidata provides employees unlimited PTO to let people not stress themselves too much. Also, the company yearly party is awesome! Again, Medidata is a great company and it is the best place for talent to work at!

Pros

Work from home is big 10-5 culture. (if this appeals to you) Very little work (again, if this appeals to you, it doesn't to me.)

Cons

Absolutely no direction. At all. Glen and Tarek are tactically brilliant but strategically incompetent. They know how to build a company from 1-10, but not from 11-100. Senior leadership is possibly the most incompetent that I have seen in my career. A very high level of employee churn. Mid to high level employees leave at an incredibly high rate. Low levels are safe and stay a bit though. I've seen banks and big corporates that are 100 times the size of Medidata that are less siloed and bureaucratic. Silos exists not just across business functions but also within business functions. No two products know what each other is doing. No two business functions know what the other is doing (Sales , Marketing, Product don't know what each other is doing) Company culture is non existent. It feels like a bunch of strangers working out of a WeWork than a well-oiled machine or a combined entity. Product SUCKS!!!! Aside from Rave, all their other products are either mediocre or an absolute disaster. They keep building more products and building them out more without addressing underlying bugs and problems. And now the competition is catching up. Finally, can the HR team STOP posting these, fake reviews? This is actually a 1 or 2 star company once you get rid of the fake reviews
