Pros
I work with an amazing team who are so supportive and caring. They always have my back, and step in for me when I need help. We work a hard job, and we all need so much support and here, I get it everyday.
Also, they provide amazing parental leave. I'm a new father, and I was given 8 weeks of paid leave. Also, we have a flexible schedule, plenty of paid time off, and understanding supervisors and coworkers who support self care and understand the necessity of time away for such a draining and demanding job.
Cons
This job is not for everyone. It is mentally and emotionally draining. It requires constant self care and mental fortitude to avoid burnout and second hand trauma. Even then, if you are a caring person who wants to help, you will be overcome at times by the responsibility in front of you. It's a difficult job and you will encounter very difficult and tragic situations.
