Pros

Abbott has been a great company to work for with opportunities to learn and grow. Good stock options if at the level to receive but poor annual bonuses. Health insurance is fair but not great.

Cons

- Leadership has no trust in employees. Current CEO is petty, tone deaf, and out of touch. Implemented a new policy where “we work better together” removing almost all flexibility and opportunities for WFH especially for hourly coworkers despite the company performing and meeting Wall Street expectations year over year with flexibility and work from home. Presume this is to reduce headcount as it is cheaper than doing a RIF. Will not support Abbott’s desire to keep and retain top talent. Goes against the affinity “flex network” that is touted internally. Doesn’t support the awards we supposedly continue to win from working mom magazine and other organizations on our support for working parents. - tag line is “life to the fullest” and this is how Abbott will work you - they will take everything out of you that they can and continue to load good individuals who perform with more work. I continuously get exceeding expectations but my raises aren’t base merit. A 2% increase with base at 4% is insulting - management is overworked and direct line manager is so busy doing everyone else’s job has not time to develop support own team - Abbott park has a daycare on site - this is not an option at other locations. - lack of flexibility does not support working parents especially when employee is primary care giver

Abbott Puts on a Pretty Public Face

Pros

Good health insurance, strong long-term benefits, good benefits related to student loan/financial support

Cons

- The CEO clearly communicates his disdain for employees' ability to choose a flexible work/life balance, and enforce mandates for in-office work policies with absolutely zero proof to substantiate his claims that people 'work better when they sit in an office'. So have fun sitting in your car in traffic for hours every day, because, you know, that's efficient and beneficial for the company. - The company publicly supports diversity & inclusion, but internally fails to communicate/show support for LGBTQ+, Black History, Indigenous People, etc. Name a minority holiday and you won't see leaders talk about it - only people who lead employee resource groups who are the real heroes. - Yearly increases are measly 2-3% (if you're lucky) and nowhere near meeting cost of living/inflation increases. - People are promoted by 'who you know', not by who deserves it. BAD managers/leaders continue to have jobs and get promoted while they cut away at individual contributors and make teams so lean they can barely function. - At the core, they don't care about the people. They care about the shareholders.
