Pros

Good benefits, Time Off., pension

Cons

As a 20+ year employee I have to say our current leadership is the worst it has ever been. Morale is horrible, V.P.'s and Directors are bullies, there is no where to take complaints as H.R. is part of the problem. All of the new leadership acts as though nothing has been.done correctly for the last three decades. No input from the people actually doing the work, expectations and direction change daily. Theft is rampant and no one is held accountable. Speak out at your own peril, there are V.P.'s who will push you out in a minute if they think they can get away with it. I am just waiting on retirement. R.

Pros

Laid back atmosphere for the most part.

Cons

The person running the IT department has no interest in anyone but themselves. Declaring themselves smarter than anyone in the IT department and ignoring all input from staff can lead to a very frustrating experience. They have promoted desktop support personnel into System Engineering roles that are beyond their capabilities and expect them to be successful. They lead by fear and dominance. I saw quite a few good people that had been with ACC many, many years run off because their views differed from the new management.

Pros

IT was a place I enjoyed going to in the morning. I was handed projects and allowed to complete them as best I could. I felt a part of something bigger, supporting staff, administration, faculty and students. I felt the objective was to provide a service all could trust and find beneficial.

Cons

Things change. We all have the option of putting up or shutting up. When you rely on a job for a living, to have it jacked around with is a scary thing. Upper management could swing like a pendulum: One moment you are overwhelmed, next you find you responsibilities usurped by someone that doesn't know how to work with others and do things in a unilateral and arbitrary way without consulting others. This tendency does nothing but alienate co-workers and as a result projects have no backup and many times are incomplete. As a result, the department gets a bad rap because no one knows why things aren't getting done.
