Lots of opportunities to get training

Every year you are given the opportunity to take a class to better your knowledge.

The company tried at times, but clearly did not know how to accomplish this. The lack of meaningful options for professional development was one of my major disappointments with my career there.

They talk a lot about all the courses available, but force you to volunteer your time or charge it to a sponsor, which is really hard to do

No best. MITRE offers little funding or time off work for professional education and development.

One of the things that MITRE admits that it does not do well is Professional Development. I have been told countless times that it is my career and only I am responsible for it. However, MITRE does prefer to hire from within, when possible. In my experience, it is easier to leave the company and return to a better position, than it is to be promoted or receive salary raises.
