Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and managing a team of Senior and Staff Accountants in the Revenue Accounting area.
Provides oversight and management of passenger ticket revenue and related expense transactions, including the month-end close process and monthly variance of actuals to the budget/forecast analysis and explanations.
Given the volume of accounts, the incumbent will work closely with numerous levels of management throughout various areas of the business in order to assist in the preparation and review of financial results based on which business decisions can be made.
Additionally, responsible for internal and external audit requirements / deliverables as related to the area.
Position responsibilities:
Manage, train and develop a team of senior and staff accountants to provide an efficient and effective support function to the business.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the team. Act as point person for all ad-hoc and critical information needs.
Ensure all aspects of the monthly close process are completed on a timely basis.
Review financial reporting packages and monthly results in order to analyze variances and trends and provide explanations to management for the related movements.
Maintain a strong understanding of the operational results to assist management in making informed operational decisions based upon the recorded outcomes.
Act as a liaison between the General Accounting, Onboard Revenue Accounting, Revenue Management, Guest Services and other Operations Departments within the organization.
This includes active participation at departmental meetings to provide input on accounting related issues as needed.
Perform reviews, reconciliations and/or roll-forwards of critical accounts.
Assist with implementation and changes of financial and operational systems.
Support with implementing of internal control procedures, including recurring Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Develop and implement procedures for accounting personnel as required due to changes in business.
Understand the Company's operational systems and assist in the continual development and improvement of the recording of entries within the systems.
This includes periodic reviews of current practices in order to identify areas for improvement as well as assistance with special requests from the operational team.
Review and approve monthly journals vouchers prepared by the accounting staff.
Ensure timely processing within our reservation system of the process that triggers revenue recognition, as well as ensuring all voyages are properly reflected in our financial system within the month of sailing.
Analyze and review agreements to ensure terms and conditions are appropriate and payment schedules are complied with according to contract terms.
Responsible for overseeing and actively involved in any monthly, quarterly or yearly audits by both internal and external auditors with respect to our revenue accounting areas.
Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $36.98/hour - $57.79/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
