CAREERS AT TTSG
Internal Applications Developer
Location: Hanover Park, IL (on-site),
Type: Full-time
Compensation: $100,000–$110,000 per year
Reports to: Director of Business Systems & Process Optimization
About the role
TTSG and its affiliated companies are investing in custom internal software — tools built to make our own teams faster, sharper, and better at their jobs. We’re hiring a developer to own the technical side of that effort end to end.
You’ll take validated ideas and turn them into real, reliable applications that employees across our companies use every day — then own them for the long haul: deploying, maintaining, enhancing, and improving. This is a build-and-own role with a direct line to the leader driving the work. Your decisions on architecture, frameworks, and deployment are yours to make.
Why you’ll want this role
- Real ownership. You’re the technical decision-maker on every tool — not one cog in a large engineering org. You choose the stack and you make the call on how it ships.
- Greenfield work. A growing portfolio of internal tools means you’re building new things, not just maintaining legacy systems.
- Modern, AI-forward shop. We use AI tooling actively in how we work and build. You’ll be encouraged to use the best tools available, not fight to adopt them.
- Visible impact. You’ll see the tools you ship get used by real colleagues, and you’ll get direct feedback on what’s working.
- Stability with variety. A full-time, in-house seat at an established company — with the range of problems that comes from supporting four different businesses.
What you’ll do
- Take working prototypes and turn them into production-quality applications real teams depend on.
- Choose the right framework, architecture, and hosting for each tool — from lightweight single-page apps to tools with backends, databases, and authentication.
- Deploy, monitor, maintain, and enhance a growing portfolio of internal tools.
- Own bug triage, documentation, and version control across that portfolio.
- Integrate tools with third-party APIs and services.
- Collaborate directly with the Director to refine each tool from first version to final release.
What we’re looking for
- 2–4 years of professional full-stack development experience — ideally including tools you built and then maintained over time.
- Strong JavaScript and React (HTML/CSS a given). You write it natively, not just patch it.
- REST API integration and authentication — you’re comfortable wiring tools into outside services and handling auth correctly.
- Git and disciplined version control.
- Sound credential hygiene — no API keys in front-end code, proper use of environment variables.
- Good judgment about architecture — you can explain why one tool should be a simple front-end app and another needs a backend or a database.
Skills and a real portfolio matter more to us than a specific degree.
Nice to have
- TypeScript, Node.js, or experience with a backend language and a SQL database.
- Experience deploying to Netlify, Vercel, or similar platforms.
- A track record of building internal/business tools rather than only consumer products.
- Comfort working alongside AI coding tools as part of your workflow.
