As we continue to grow, we need someone who can help us stay organized and profitable.
Position Overview:
We're seeking a detail-oriented Controller/Bookkeeper who understands construction finances and can help us manage our books, analyze project costs, and keep our financial house in order.
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and financial record-keeping
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts
- Handle payroll processing and tax filings
- Maintain accurate job costing records for all projects
Cost Analysis & Project Management:
- Track and analyze costs by project
- Monitor project budgets vs. actual expenses
- Identify cost overruns and help find solutions
- Prepare financial reports for project profitability
- Help with estimating and bid preparation
Financial Reporting & Planning:
- Generate monthly financial statements
- Prepare reports for management review
- Assist with cash flow forecasting
- Support year-end accounting and tax preparation
- Work with our CPA/tax professional as needed
Construction-Specific Tasks:
- Track material costs, labor, and subcontractor expenses by job
- Manage lien waivers and contractor compliance documentation
- Handle construction loan draws and documentation
- Monitor WIP (Work in Progress) schedules
- Understand construction contracts and change orders
QualificationsRequired:
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience with construction accounting or job costing
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Experience with construction management software
- Knowledge of Minnesota construction industry regulations
- Familiarity with construction payroll and certified payroll requirements
- Understanding of construction liens and bonding

This position is full-time. We're looking for someone who can help us stay organized as we grow, catch issues before they become problems, and help us make smart financial decisions on every project. You'll work directly with the owners and have a real voice in how we run the financial side of our business. Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
